Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, died of sudden cardiac arrest, according to the post-mortem report.

As per the findings, Prateek suffered “massive pulmonary thromboembolism,” which is a life-threatening condition wherein a blood clot originates in the legs and pelvis area and travels to upper body parts. Eventually this blocks an artery in the lungs.

The condition apparently led to cardiorespiratory collapse, eventually leading to Prateek’s untimely demise, IANS reported.

The Postmortem Report from King George’s Medical University in Lucknow has listed cardiorespiratory collapse due to massive pulmonary thromboembolism as the cause of death. Further, it mentions six “antemortem” (before death) injuries found on his body.

“However, whole heart & pulmonary thromboembolic material preserved in Formalin for histopathological examination and viscera preserved for chemical analysis handed over to the CP concerned,” it added.

Prateek, BJP leader Aparna Yadav’s husband, passed away this morning.

The report further states that the cardiac and pulmonary thromboembolic materials have been preserved for histopathological examination, and the viscera have been preserved for chemical analysis and handed over to the police officer concerned.

The post-mortem also found a total of six injury marks on the deceased’s body. It states that marks indicating severe contusions (internal bruising) and underlying blood accumulation (ecchymosis) were found on the right side of the chest, the right arm, the right forearm, the right elbow, and the left wrist.

It states that the first injury measuring 14×7 centimetres was on the front part of the chest with skin colour turning reddish-brown in the centre and greenish-yellow at the edges.

The second injury measures 19×12 centimetres and was found on the posterior aspect of the right arm. The third one, measuring 24×8 centimetres, was on the right forearm, while the fourth injury measuring 6×4 centimetres was found on the right forearm. The fifth was on the right elbow and sixth on the left wrist.

The accumulation of blood beneath these injuries corroborated the assumptions.

However, the doctors have clarified that all these injuries found on the deceased’s body are ante-mortem, which means that they occurred prior to death.
